Wie:Ik ben geen ict-coördinator, geen docent en al helemaal geen directeur of bovenschoolse manager; mijn naam is Roeland Smeets, ik ben 64 jaar, mediathecaris, mediacoach en lid van de werkgroep informatievaardigheden van het Barlaeus gymnasium in Amsterdam.

Wat:In de pauze komen ze in drommen binnen..... [koptelefoon?] Tijdens een tussenuur kunnen ze aan de slag met huiswerk of een spelletje..... ik geef ze instructie in zoeken op internet, de Faq's of beeldbewerking.... De website van onze school [www.barlaeus.nl] onderhoud ik nu twaalf jaar... Met de docenten zet ik een leerlijn informatievaardigheden/Mediawijsheid uit... Ik houd een agenda bij waarin docenten kunnen aangeven wanneer ze met een klas aan de computer willen.
Ik heb leuk en vooral afwisselend werk want leerlingen komen bij mij met vragen en ik heb [meestal wel] de antwoorden: heb je een woordenboek voor me ? Antwoord: heb jij een borg?
Hoe regel ik de regelafstand in Open Office Writer ? [wij hebben geen Word] Welk boek zal ik gaan lezen ? Antwoord: welk boek vond je mooi?

Samenwerken mediatheek en bibliotheek belangrijk

Hoe belangrijk mediatheken/ bibliotheken zijn en waarom juist samenwerking met bibliotheken zinvol is kun je  uit dit artikel halen.

' In an era of ubiquitous information, the need for school librarians is greater than ever. Critical thinking requires students to find information to fuel their inquiries. The same goes for the creative forms of learning that many of the best teachers seek to inspire in their students. There are far more sources of information for students to choose from, but students are rarely taught how to develop a good process for making wise decisions about information quality. Students need to learn digital literacy skills to be able to identify credible information in a more distributed, complicated world rich with data. Classroom teachers who were trained in an earlier era sometimes struggle with navigating the digital world of information and can lack the skills and confidence to teach kids well. The task of determining (and improving) information quality is core to the library profession. This educational challenge is one that school librarians are exceptionally well prepared to meet on behalf of our students. It is precisely the wrong moment to be cutting school librarians out of schools'.
